This is the fourth time I have joined my church in playing softball for the Diocesan tournament. Each year, I find myself developing more and more in my softball skills. In my first year of playing, I remember that I could barely catch a ball without dropping it. Obviously, I'm no pro-player, but this summer I found my hand-eye coordination much improved!
I have never really been an athletic person, and I don’t
particularly find joy in playing sports or participating in such activities.
However, I really appreciate playing softball with my peers from church because
we already have our faith in common so it’s easier to build relationships. I’ve
found that whatever sport or team-activity I take part in is always easier when
it’s with my friends or people with whom I have relationships. Therefore, teamwork
is a major element in this “Action” activity and I really like bonding with my
fellow teammates. I would say that this activity definitely increased my awareness of my own strengths and areas for growth, because I became aware of different skills and challenges that I had to face.
I also worked collaboratively with others and showed perseverance and commitment in the
activity, because it took quite a lot of practice to put this team together and get into shape for the tournament. I spent every Sunday afternoon up at our fields practicing because of this! :) I am really glad that I participated in this activity beacuse I feel like I have grown not only in my physical abilities but also my relationships with my friends.
